About The Position

Capital City Fire Rescue (CCFR) is seeking individuals with experience working with vulnerable populations, or those aspiring to become an EMT, to join their Community Health Sobering Center team. This role offers on-the-job training, including opportunities to achieve EMT I and Fire Fighter I certifications. The Community Health Division focuses on serving the public, particularly Juneau's most vulnerable populations, with patience and compassion. This is a team-oriented environment that fosters growth for employees while helping the community.

Requirements

High School graduation or valid GED certificate.
Not less than 18 years of age at time of appointment.
A valid Driver’s License at time of appointment and for continued employment.
For ETT/EMT position: Valid Emergency Trauma Technician Certification within four (4) weeks of appointment and for continued employment.
For ETT/EMT position: Certification as a State of Alaska Emergency Medical Technician I or higher within one year of appointment.
For Community Health EMT I position: Certification by the State of Alaska as an Emergency Medical Technician I or higher at time of appointment and for continued employment.

Responsibilities

Respond to calls for service treating vulnerable populations suffering from the impacts of drug and alcohol abuse.
Operate CARES transport vehicles or ambulances.
Work independently and with other emergency medical services personnel.
Assess the general condition of impaired, ill, or injured individuals.
Provide care and transportation to the most appropriate facility.
Monitor and reassess individuals transported to the Sobering Center.
