About The Position

Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio is seeking a mission-minded Temporary Community Health Education Intern. Ideal Applicant will reside in the Toledo area, and will offer education services to agencies within the assigned region. Position Summary This is a short-term, paid internship within the Ohio Center for Sex Education (OCSE) designed to provide hands-on experience in community health education and outreach at PPGOH. The intern will support education initiatives, community engagement, and program activities while gaining practical experience in public health and sexual health education. The OCSE Intern assists in the planning, marketing, implementing, and evaluating community education and outreach programs in classroom and community settings on topics related to reproductive health. This is a temporary, part-time, non-exempt hourly position working 10–15 hours per week with no benefits eligibility.   • Currently a student at a high school, college, or university and must be enrolled in classes at the time the internship begins.
  • Students in public health education preferred; medical students accepted.
  • Presentation and training skills are required.

  • The ability to travel within the service area is required.
  • Regular and timely attendance at in-person and/or virtual meetings, trainings, and events is required.
  • The role requires prolonged periods of standing, walking, and computer use and may involve frequent interruptions and time-sensitive demands.
  • Work involves exposure to confidential or sensitive information.
  • This role requires adaptability, the ability to transition between locations and teams efficiently, and consistent attention to confidentiality and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or training in reproductive health, human sexuality, adolescent development, and learning theory
  • Background in trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches
  • Experience or training in the area of reproductive health, human sexuality, adolescent development, and learning theory preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Community Outreach & Engagement Visit outreach sites including businesses, schools, faith-based organizations, and community service agencies to establish referral relationships, partnerships, and outreach opportunities
  • Promote PPGOH services and recruit patients/participants within designated grant-funded counties through health fairs, community events, and engagement with community resources
  • Support education and outreach initiatives that reflect the cultural and linguistic needs of individuals living within the PPGOH service area
  • Health Education Develop and deliver educational information on family planning, STD/STI prevention and treatment, and sexual health for adolescents and adults in school and community settings
  • Provide client-centered reinforcement for health information using trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches
  • Maintain awareness of demographic, cultural, and epidemiological trends affecting communities served
  • Program Support Assist in planning, marketing, implementing, and evaluating community health education and outreach activities
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of education and outreach activities
  • Collect and document participant feedback to support program evaluation and continuous improvement
  • Assist with data entry and administrative support related to education programs and outreach activities
  • Attend regular departmental meetings and assist with department projects
  • Other duties as assigned.
