About The Position

Woodcraft Rangers, founded in 1922, is a progressive organization dedicated to guiding young people toward purposeful lives through a holistic framework that develops body, mind, spirit, and service. They offer expanded learning programs for TK-12 students, including after-school programs, specialty enrichment, summer learning, early learning, environmental and social justice initiatives, college access, and inclusion services for youth with disabilities. Woodcraft Rangers serves over 30,000 youth annually across numerous Title I schools in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, and also provides a college and career advancement program for its staff.

Requirements

Availability Monday through Friday, from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Ability to work effectively with children and youth.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Basic computer proficiency and a willingness to learn new technologies and systems.
Must successfully pass an assessment evaluating math, reading comprehension, and spelling skills.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in expanded learning programs, after-school programs, or youth recreation settings.
An Associate's Degree in Child Development or a related field.
Previous experience working with K-12 students in academic, recreational, or youth development settings.
Comfortable presenting and speaking in front of staff and peers during in-person training.

Responsibilities

Support after-school programs by developing positive relationships with program participants, their families, and the community.
Oversee the daily sign-ins and sign-outs of all participants.
Ensure the communication board is up to date with program-related information.
Keep families informed about program events, schedules, and upcoming field trips.
Manage the accuracy of after-school program rosters and daily participant head counts.
Ensure students are in a safe environment (physically and emotionally).
Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces diversity.
Support club leaders and site coordinators with sign-in/out procedures and parent communication during sign-out.
Ensure attendance rosters are accurate and complete daily.
Monitor participant attendance and engagement.
Organize and maintain participant registration forms, site information binder, and site directory board.
Assist the site coordinator with collecting and organizing information for reports.
Assist the team with site-based events.
Serve as a substitute or fill in for staff during breaks or lunches.
Build positive relationships with program participants, colleagues, and stakeholders.
Comply with all applicable safety requirements and emergency protocols.
Attend off-site field trips as required.
Participate in staff development trainings, approximately 15 hours spread over multiple weekends/intersessional days throughout the spring.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
