About The Position

The Community Engagement & Volunteer Services Specialist is responsible for advancing LEC's mission and strategic objectives by cultivating and maintaining community relationships that promote awareness, engagement, and support for LEC communities and Hospice Services. This position develops, coordinates, and implements community outreach initiatives, educational programs, and partnership opportunities with senior adults, healthcare providers, faith-based organizations, nonprofit agencies, and other community stakeholders to strengthen organizational visibility and community impact. This position also provides leadership and oversight for the Hospice Volunteer Program, ensuring volunteer services are effectively recruited, trained, coordinated, and utilized to support patients, families, the interdisciplinary team, and organizational goals. Working with a high degree of independence, the Community Representative and Coordinator of Volunteers exercises sound judgment in developing outreach strategies, fostering collaborative partnerships, coordinating volunteer resources, and identifying opportunities to enhance program effectiveness while supporting LEC's mission, values, and commitment to exceptional service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in community outreach, business development, volunteer coordination, healthcare, senior services, or a related field required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn organization-specific software systems.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance in accordance with state requirements.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Nursing, Human Services, Behavioral Sciences, Marketing, Communications degree preferred.
  • experience in hospice, home health, or senior living preferred.
  • Experience developing community partnerships, coordinating volunteers, planning educational programs, or working with older adults and their families preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospice philosophy, end-of-life care, and volunteer program principles preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and exercise sound judgment while fostering collaborative relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate community engagement strategies, educational programs, and outreach initiatives that increase awareness of LEC communities, Hospice Services, and the Confident Living program while strengthening organizational visibility and community relationships.
  • Establish, cultivate, and maintain collaborative partnerships with healthcare providers, faith-based organizations, nonprofit agencies, businesses, and other community stakeholders. Represent LEC at community events, educational presentations, networking opportunities, and professional organizations to promote services, foster engagement, and support referral development.
  • Provide leadership and administration of the Hospice Volunteer Program, including volunteer recruitment, screening, onboarding, training, assignment, supervision, recognition, and retention to ensure volunteer services effectively support patients, families, the interdisciplinary team, and organizational objectives while meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and continuously improve community engagement and volunteer programs by analyzing participation, satisfaction, program outcomes, and community needs, and implementing recommendations that enhance program effectiveness and organizational impact.
  • Serve as the organizational resource for community engagement and hospice volunteer services by providing guidance, education, and support to volunteers, leadership, community partners, and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation related to community outreach, volunteer services, and program outcomes in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with leadership and interdisciplinary teams to align community engagement and volunteer initiatives with LEC's strategic priorities, mission, and commitment to exceptional service.
