About The Position

Provide individualized and group services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to support integration in the community. Responsible for developing enriching community activities and curriculum to assist individuals with developing skills of daily living.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver's License, auto insurance, car registration.

Nice To Haves

  • Two or more years of experience in serving individuals with IDD, preferred.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and implement the principles of community integration.
  • Assist individuals with seeking, attaining, and engaging in beneficial activities in the community.
  • Use appropriate assessment tools to gain a deeper understanding of each individual’s desires, strengths, and challenges.
  • Maintain positive relations and build rapport with members of the community to ensure meaningful relationships are created.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with non-profit organizations (501(c)3) to create and retain future volunteer opportunities.
  • Through community resources, ensure individuals can engage in community activities via local businesses and governmental entities to provide enriching opportunities that foster their highest potential outcome.
  • Find and provide community resources to support the individuals served.
  • Track and document progress daily for billing purposes.
  • Collaborate with team members to identify community resources and volunteer opportunities.
  • Maintain, create, and submit a weekly person-centered schedule reflecting and ensuring meaningful activities in the community.
  • Complete person-centered annual assessments and attend IDT meetings as necessary.
  • Maintain and update individuals’ file(s) to ensure the most current information is available.
  • Provide training for individuals in their community to support and promote independence.
  • Support individuals by providing transportation in the community in staff’s vehicle, and by expanding their presence in the community by seeking other means of transportation, such as bus, paratransit, or third-party transportation services to promote higher independence.
  • Take direction and give/receive feedback positively and professionally.
  • Develop understanding of The Arc’s services and supports.
  • Respond to individuals’ questions or concerns within two business days.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance for both agency and personal vehicles to provide services to individuals in the community.
  • Comply with policies and procedures as outlined in the Arc Employee Handbook, including timely and accurately approving timecards, mileage logs, and following all Health and Safety mandates.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Certification will be provided within the first 90 days of employment at the expense of the Agency.
