The Role The Community Engagement Manager leads the company’s efforts to build meaningful, long term relationships with the communities where we live and work, with a strong emphasis on our hometown Chicago market. This role designs and delivers community engagement programs centered on philanthropic giving, employee volunteerism, nonprofit partnerships, and employee giving initiatives that strengthen local impact, foster employee connection, and reinforce company values. The Community Engagement Manager reports to the Senior Director, Communications, Marketing and Corporate Social Responsibility and works closely with cross functional partners to drive participation and visibility across the organization.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience: Experience in community engagement, corporate philanthropy, employee volunteer programs, nonprofit partnerships, or related fields
  • Location: Chicago‑based candidates strongly preferred.
  • Skills & Attributes: Strong relationship‑building and partnership management skills. Ability to inspire and mobilize employee participation. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working across teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with the Chicago nonprofit and civic landscape is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Community Engagement Strategy Develop and execute a community engagement strategy that prioritizes strong local relationships and visible impact in the Chicago market. Identify opportunities to deepen participation and connection among employees, community partners, and local stakeholders.
  • Philanthropic Giving & Nonprofit Partnerships Manage charitable giving programs, including grants, sponsorships, and in‑kind contributions. Build, manage, and steward relationships with nonprofit organizations and community partners, with an emphasis on Chicago‑based and locally relevant organizations. Ensure partnerships are impactful, well‑managed, and aligned with company values.
  • Employee Volunteerism & Giving Design and lead employee volunteer programs, including company‑wide initiatives, team‑based opportunities, and skills-based volunteering. Oversee employee giving initiatives, such as matching gifts or annual giving campaigns, to drive engagement and participation. Partner with internal leaders and employee groups to promote involvement and champion community efforts across the company.
  • Community Storytelling & Visibility Collaborate with Communications and Marketing to highlight community partnerships, volunteer activities, and philanthropic impact through internal and external channels. Support storytelling that reinforces employee pride and demonstrates the company’s commitment to its communities.
  • Measurement & Program Management Track participation, engagement, and outcomes of community programs to inform decision‑making and continuous improvement. Gather insights and feedback from employees and community partners to strengthen programs over time.
