WPVI-TV (6abc) Community Engagement Intern, Spring 2027
About The Position
WPVI-TV (6abc), an ABC-owned television station in Philadelphia, is offering an internship focused on community engagement and the creation of long-form content and live-to-tape events. The intern will gain hands-on experience with productions, campaigns, initiatives, and events originating at 6abc, as well as exposure to television production and the operations of the Community Engagement department. The role includes opportunities to observe and participate in the daily work of a major-market television station and connect with community-based nonprofit organizations and the communities 6abc serves. The internship is onsite in a professional office environment and runs from January through June 2027. Interns must be available for 20 hours per week, generally on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with additional hours scheduled during the week based on event coverage, productions, and department needs. Candidates must provide their own housing in the Philadelphia area and have reliable transportation to and from work.
Requirements
- Be enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a degree and taking at least one class at the time of application, or currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess unrestricted work authorization.
- Have experience capturing photo and video content using Canon, Nikon, DSLR, or comparable camera equipment.
- Be proficient in video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro.
- Be proficient with Canva and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Have experience creating and managing content across social media platforms.
- Be available for a consistent, reliable work schedule from January 2027 through June 2027 and able to work 20 hours per week for the duration of the internship.
- Be able to provide housing for the internship in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area and reliable transportation to and from work.
- Current Disney Interns and College, International, or Culinary Program Participants may work for no more than one consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
Nice To Haves
- Previous academic or internship experience in journalism (print and/or broadcast), television, news or news media production, and/or television news script writing.
- Demonstrated interest in community engagement, corporate citizenship, or social impact initiatives through academic, volunteer, or extracurricular experiences.
Responsibilities
- Assist with planning, preparation, and execution of the station’s live and taped long-form productions, campaigns, initiatives, and events.
- Write digital copy for the website and on-air public service announcements.
- Create and edit social media digital content.
- Attend community engagement meetings, both virtual and in person.
- Develop and design communication materials using tools such as Canva, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
