Based out of Asheville, NC, Sugar Hollow Solar offers energy solutions for homes, farms, small businesses and other commercial properties by designing and installing solar electric systems (rooftop or ground-mounted), battery backup systems and EV charger stations, as well as, systems maintenance. Sugar Hollow Solar has grown into Western North Carolina's largest solar installer, having completed over 900 installations with an unwavering commitment to quality and integrity. Sugar Hollow Solar is hiring a Community Engagement Coordinator! This key role is responsible for building and nurturing strong relationships with our community, partners, clients and key stakeholders. This role develops and implements long-term engagement strategies that align with Sugar Hollow Solar’s overall marketing plan to strengthen our presence and reputation. A key aspect of this position involves enhancing Sugar Hollow Solar’s customer experience by managing feedback and resolving complaints effectively, ensuring positive and lasting connections. The coordinator also plans, coordinates and executes community-facing events, including educational workshops, local sponsorships and outreach initiatives, to promote the Sugar Hollow Solar brand, drive engagement and support our business growth through meaningful community involvement and visibility. Our ideal candidate is highly organized and detail-oriented, is an excited, collaborative team player, has exceptional communication skills and has a passion for sustainability, renewable energy and community impact, with a genuine interest in educating and engaging the public!

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in community outreach, public engagement, event coordination or related roles
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Environmental Studies or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid driver’s license is required
  • Demonstrated experience planning and successfully executing community events, educational programs or other public-facing initiatives
  • Exceptional relationship building, diplomacy and networking skills with the ability to successfully build both internal and external relationships
  • Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Self-directed and takes initiative to take the lead and follow through to completion
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized and able to manage time effectively
  • Proficient with Google Workspace and CRM tools

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with all stakeholders including existing customers, potential customers and community partners cultivating trust, ensuring effective brand communication and facilitating strategic partnerships
  • Enhances Sugar Hollow Solar customer experiences by managing feedback and resolving complaints effectively
  • Organizes and facilitates all Sugar Hollow Solar events, workshops and meetings to promote engagement and provide information on Sugar Hollow Solar and renewable energy
  • Creates and executes plans that effectively connect with members of our community, identify their interests in solar and foster participation and engagement
  • Assists in developing communication materials and distributing them at events while fielding questions from the public to create effective personal outreach from the organization
  • Identifies areas for improvement in events and community outreach and provides reporting on effectiveness
  • Collaborates and partners with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement joint initiatives, programs and events
