The ASPCA’s Community Engagement program works in New York City to assist pet owners who need support to care for their animals by addressing underlying systemic issues, such as socioeconomic distress, lack of access to resources, domestic violence, medical or mental health considerations. The Community Engagement Coordinator will work as part of a team to create relationships with key community-based organizations (e.g., human service organizations, animal welfare groups, NYPD & law enforcement agencies) and identify pet owners who would benefit from ASPCA or other services. The Coordinator will participate in field work including visiting clients’ homes to coordinate services as well as transporting animals from veterinary hospitals to the ASPCA hospital and attending community events. The Coordinator will partner with community stakeholders and support development of strategic alliances within the community to reach pet owners and increase awareness of the ASPCA’s services, with the goal of keeping more pets healthy and in their homes. This role is responsible for executing engagement plans that incorporates key community members feedback for successful entry of ASPCA services into communities. They will directly connect clients to services and maintain partnership engagement to facilitate better access to services. This position reports on-site daily to our Long Island City (Queens) office. The schedule for this role will either be Tuesday through Saturday with 8-hour shifts approximately 9am - 5pm. This shift is subject to change at the discretion of the ASPCA.
