Providing employment obtainment and retention supports to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders. Employment activities and opportunities support the person’s interests, priorities, desires, and abilities towards the obtainment and retention of employment. Responsibilities with the person include guiding, supporting, teaching, monitoring the pathway of integrated employment success. In addition to the individual support; Vocational Specialists build and maintain professional relationships with community employers to develop opportunities utilizing “traditional,” or “customize / carve out” employment processes. The right candidate will need to have strong interpersonal skills, high energy, be creative, self-motivated, enjoy being “on the move,” knowledgeable of the surrounding communities and have a desire to support people to realize community integrated employment success. Additional responsibilities include carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.
