About The Position

Achieva is seeking a passionate person to help people with disabilities find competitive integrated employment and lead a life of personal significance. The Community Employment Specialist connects people with disabilities with community-based, competitive employment. Working in the community, this person assesses skills, builds job seeker competencies, establishes relationships with businesses, and gives individuals the tools and support needed to be successful.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of one (1) year of related experience.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with disabilities working in the community.
Ability to train people with disabilities on a one-to-one basis using a variety of instructional techniques.
Ability to communicate an understanding of local business community needs and job performance assessment.
Position requires schedule flexibility to accommodate varying shifts and weekends.
Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License and access to a properly insured vehicle available for daily work use.
Required clearances: Act 33 (Child Abuse), Act 34 (Criminal Record), and FBI Background Check.

Candidates with prior experience in disability services, employment supports, recruitment, or advocacy are strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Assists job seekers with disabilities to secure competitive integrated employment through job finding or job development.
Facilitates work assessments or job trials to evaluate a job seeker's interests and abilities.
Provides job shadowing opportunities for job seekers to explore employment options.
Helps people discover and evaluate job opportunities.
Provides direct job coaching, training, and ongoing support.
Promotes sustainable competitive integrated employment by building and maintaining strong relationships with employers.
Promotes the inclusion of Achieva's employment supports and services across the local business community.
Performs other duties as assigned.
