About The Position

This position is located in the Charlotte VR/IL Unit Office in Mecklenburg County. The Community Employment Program Specialist/Business Relations Representative (BRR) works in partnership with Rehabilitation Counselors and Vocational Evaluators to determine suitable vocational options for individuals with disabilities and subsequently assist them in obtaining competitive employment within the community. Developing and maintaining employer relationships and promoting NC EIPD's services are vital parts of this position that helps secure internships and increase employment opportunities for consumers. Job responsibilities include the following: • Working with consumers to assist with seeking employment, completing applications, advocating with employers, resume development, job placement/coaching, and follow-up • Teaching Employment Marketing Skills Classes and conducting Windmills training to job-ready consumers and employers • Providing written and verbal feedback to counselors on the progress of referred consumers efforts towards obtaining employment • Assisting consumers with obtaining internships that align with their vocational goals • Participating in job fairs and other community events to promote the agency and increase employment opportunities for consumers and represent the unit on boards/committees as designated by the Unit Manager • Meet with local and regional employers to explain agency mission and goals and to assist in meeting their business needs • Documenting the provision of services provided in accordance with consumer's rehabilitation plan and agency policy

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services or business field such as human resources, marketing, business administration, business management, healthcare management, or public administration from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate’s degree in a human services or business field (identified above) from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) and four years of directly related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
