About The Position

The Community Employment Program Specialist, (Adjustment Services Instructor - ASI), is located in Morganton, NC at the WorkSource West Facility in Burke County. The position provides work adjustment training to persons with disabilities to help prepare them for competitive employment. This ASI primarily provides training in a work area which produces a variety of wood products according to contracts with various industries. This position will assist in providing coverage in other training areas at the facility as needed and assigned by the supervisor, including the third-party program at Foothills Correctional Institution.

Requirements

  • Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license required to drive state vehicles
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human services or business field such as human resources, marketing, business administration, business management, healthcare management, or public administration from an appropriately accredited institution; or Associate’s degree in a human services or business field (identified above) from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of directly related work experience; or High school or General Educational Development (GED) and four years of directly related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching appropriate work behaviors including productivity and safety awareness in a real work setting
  • Providing orientation, supervision and curriculum and skills training to consumers in the program
  • Evaluating readiness for employment via behavioral observation and productivity measures
  • Managing job set up, monitoring workflow, and quality assurance
  • Documenting provision of services provided in accordance with consumer’s rehabilitation plan
  • Transporting trainees in State vehicles as needed to support aspects of program participation
