About The Position

Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Community Outreach, the Community Educator promotes The Health Plan’s programs throughout the state via site visits and participation in community events. They will identify and direct potential Medicaid and uninsured candidates appropriately to The Plan’s programs. They will develop, implement and manage community event opportunities and coordinate these activities with the Community Education staff. They will educate potential Medicaid recipients on how to enroll and access the enrollment broker system for plan enrollment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Current/recent working knowledge of Medicaid to include an understanding of its beneficiaries
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in sales, service, support, and/or community-based marketing
  • Valid driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable personal transportation are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree preferred
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage community event opportunities and coordinate these activities with the Community Education staff
  • Educate potential Medicaid recipients on how to enroll and access the enrollment broker system for plan enrollment
  • Assist members with concerns and direct them to the Member Services department
  • Present and explain program benefits to potential members
  • Develop, implement, and manage community outreach opportunities and activities, ensuring that the activity is staffed and supplied adequately
  • Work with various community agencies to coordinate meetings and activities that will allow the company to establish a relationship within assigned service areas
  • Support member retention and assist auto enrollees with the selection of primary care physicians, explain program benefits and assist in follow-up to Member Services for members with concerns
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships at scheduled sites and community events
  • Maintain proper appearance relative to the setup of materials and tables at community sites and events
  • Adhere to flexible scheduling to include weekends, evenings, and special events
  • Seek out and identify opportunities within the community for site setup and event participation
  • Keep abreast of current market changes and competitor activities and inform management of activities that may affect member enrollment
  • Maintain and follow proper protocol for encounter forms, daily log submissions, and other back-office responsibilities
  • Maintain and submit all paperwork requirements accurately and within appropriate timelines
  • Coordinate and implement face-to-face education and outreach sessions/workshops for members and potential members based on referrals from various departments
  • Conduct orientations on ACFC and other educational presentations to organizations, members, and potential members as needed
