About The Position

The Community Education Adjunct Instructor provides instruction for non-credit Community Education courses offered by Klamath Community College. The instructor is responsible for preparing and delivering instruction in the assigned subject area, supporting a positive and inclusive learning environment, maintaining required course records, and communicating effectively with students and College staff. Course topics may include personal enrichment, professional development, workforce skills, hobbies, arts and crafts, technology, health and wellness, or other community education offerings based on community interest and College needs. This is a temporary, part-time adjunct position. Course assignments, instructional hours, schedules, and length of assignment will vary based on course offerings, enrollment, departmental needs, and instructor availability. There is no guarantee of a minimum number of courses, instructional hours, or continued assignment. The Community Education Adjunct Instructor is expected to maintain professional standards in instruction, communication, record keeping, confidentiality, and conduct and to follow Klamath Community College policies, procedures, and applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent, unless a different educational qualification is required based on the subject matter or applicable law, regulation, licensing, or accreditation requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skill, training, education, certification, or experience appropriate to the subject matter being taught.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant experience in the assigned course subject area, unless the Community Education Department determines that an alternative combination of education, training, professional expertise, or demonstrated competency is appropriate for the course.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or proficiency in the subject matter being taught.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and effectively to individuals or groups.
  • Ability to organize and present instructional material in a logical and engaging manner.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to adapt instructional approaches based on student needs and varying levels of knowledge or experience.
  • Ability to follow College policies, procedures, safety practices, and course requirements.
  • Ability to maintain accurate attendance, participation, and other required records.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with students, College employees, community members, and others.
  • Ability to use computers, software, instructional technology, and other equipment appropriate to the assigned course.
  • Ability to demonstrate dependability, punctuality, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Current BLS Instructor certification through an approved certifying organization.
  • Current healthcare provider-level CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of current CPR, AED, and emergency response guidelines.
  • Ability to effectively teach psychomotor skills and evaluate student competency.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage classroom activities and maintain accurate training records.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and/or utilize course content, instructional materials, and learning activities appropriate to the assigned Community Education course.
  • Prepare, distribute, and utilize instructional support materials, including course outlines, handouts, presentations, demonstrations, media, equipment, and other resources as appropriate to the course.
  • Provide instruction in the assigned subject matter in a classroom, laboratory, online, community, outdoor, or other appropriate learning environment.
  • Deliver instruction in a manner that is organized, engaging, accessible, and appropriate for the intended student population.
  • Clearly communicate course expectations, objectives, schedules, materials, and other relevant information to students.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and course participation records as required by the Community Education Department.
  • Monitor student participation and progress and provide appropriate feedback and support.
  • Adapt instructional methods and activities as appropriate to accommodate different levels of experience, learning needs, and abilities.
  • Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Use College classrooms, facilities, equipment, technology, and instructional materials responsibly and in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain the security and appropriate use of College property, instructional materials, equipment, and facilities.
  • Communicate promptly and professionally with students, supervisors, Community Education staff, and other College personnel.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student, employee, institutional, and other sensitive information as appropriate to the position.
  • Follow applicable privacy and confidentiality requirements, including Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) requirements when applicable.
  • Follow Klamath Community College policies, procedures, safety practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Attend required orientation, training, meetings, or other activities related to assigned instructional responsibilities.
  • Represent Klamath Community College and the Community Education Department in a professional manner when interacting with students, community members, businesses, public agencies, and other organizations.
  • Perform other position-specific duties identified by the Community Education Department.
  • Deliver Basic Life Support (BLS) training in accordance with the requirements and standards of the certifying organization.
  • Provide instruction, demonstrations, and skills evaluation related to adult, child, and infant CPR, AED use, and relief of choking.
  • Prepare instructional materials, training equipment, and manikins prior to class.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to ensure skill competency.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, skills verification, testing, and certification documentation.
  • Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment while following College and certifying agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain current instructor credentials and participate in required updates or continuing education.
