About The Position

Creates a developmentally appropriate pre-kindergarten program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth while making sure an effective rapport is established with students, families, staff members and outside community agencies. Motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and the knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary school success.

Requirements

  • Must provide documentation of the following requirements: A teacher-caregiver is 18 years of age or older and provides the licensee with documentation of one of the following: a. Six months of child care experience i. AND A high school diploma or high school equivalency diploma; OR ii. At least 12 credit hours from an accredited college or university, including at least six credit hours in early childhood, child development, or a closely-related field. OR b. Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood, child development, or a closely-related field; OR N.A.C., C.D.A., or C.C.P. credential.
  • Obtain and maintain First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Possess a negative Mantoux TB Skin Test administered within 12 months of hire date or a health care provider's written and dated statement stating incumbent is free from infectious active TB issued within 6 months of hire date.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Food Handler's card.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints ( IVP ) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC).
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of conflict resolution.
  • Knowledge of business math concepts.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods and materials of assigned work.
  • Knowledge of filing and record-keeping principles.
  • Knowledge of uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, codes, regulations.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles.
  • Knowledge of specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.
  • Knowledge of modern office technology.
  • Knowledge of preschool learning programs for children ages 2-5.
  • Skill in training and coaching staff.
  • Skill in providing direction to others in order to meet standards.
  • Skill in exercising confidentiality.
  • Skill in composing and maintaining basic original documents including reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Skill in organizing tasks, meeting deadlines and prioritizing competing demands.
  • Skill in providing customer service.
  • Skill in utilizing a computer and relevant software applications.
  • Skill in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide childcare services for children in a preschool classroom environment.
  • Supports and develops plans related to goals set for individual children.
  • Communicates effectively with pre-kindergarten children 2-5 years of age and adults from a variety of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Maintains ongoing communication (written and verbal) with parents/guardians.
  • Identifies student needs, makes appropriate referrals and develops strategies for individual education plans under the direction of Arizona Child Find Tracking requirements.
  • Maintains all aspects and provisions of confidentiality related to Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Works with district specialists as appropriate.
  • Attends required preschool workshops, trainings and meetings as required by the Arizona Department of Health Services and the District.
  • Sets student goals and monitors and evaluates student progress using district recommended techniques.
  • Establishes and maintains good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.
