About The Position

Malama is expanding its doula provider network in Louisiana and is looking for experienced birth doulas to support pregnant and postpartum Medicaid members. As a Malama doula, you will remain an independent practitioner while Malama supports the administrative side of working with health insurance, including provider enrollment, credentialing, billing, and payment. This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity, not a W-2 employment position.

Requirements

• Experienced birth doula practicing in Louisiana
• Approved for the Louisiana Doula Registry, or eligible and willing to complete the registration process
• Willing to complete applicable Louisiana Medicaid and health-plan enrollment and credentialing requirements
• Experience providing prenatal, labor/birth, and postpartum support
• A people person and team player. You are positive and empathetic when supporting members and open and honest when providing feedback to help us improve.

• Deep ties to and/or lived experience in the communities you serve.

Responsibilities

• Provide non-clinical prenatal, labor/birth, and postpartum doula support.
• Provide culturally responsive emotional, informational, and physical support aligned with each member’s preferences and needs.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation of services.
• Follow applicable privacy, documentation, quality, and payer requirements.
• Coordinate with Malama’s care team when a member needs support outside the doula scope of practice.
