About The Position

This internship provides an opportunity to assist Community Development staff in various critical areas. Interns will gain experience in competitive funding processes, policy and procedure updates, demographic data analysis, and researching best practices in affordable housing and community development. The role also involves organizing project files, participating in team meetings, assisting with client program intake, and developing communication materials such as social media content, maps, and graphics. Additionally, interns will support inclusion efforts like MBE and Section 3, including outreach, recruitment, and training for contractors and employees, as well as assisting with monitoring activities. Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program in Political Science, Planning, Public Administration or related field.
  • Valid Driver's License issued by the state of residency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Community Development staff in competitive funding process tasks.
  • Compile and update policies and procedures.
  • Collect and analyze demographic information.
  • Research best practices in affordable housing and community development programs and projects.
  • Organize project files.
  • Participate in Community Development team meetings.
  • Assist with intake for direct client programs.
  • Develop social media material and other project summaries, including maps and graphics.
  • Assist with MBE, Section 3, and other related inclusion efforts, including outreach, recruitment, and training of contractors and employees.
  • Assist Community Development staff with monitoring activities.
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
