About The Position

The Congregate Site Coordinator is responsible for the daily operations and programming of assigned congregate meal sites. This role ensures a welcoming, safe, and engaging environment for clients, coordinates meal service logistics, and fosters community through activities and volunteer engagement. The Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between Meals on Wheels Central Texas and site participants, volunteers, and partners.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in program coordination, customer service, or community engagement
  • Prior experience working with older adults or in a social services setting preferred
  • Food Handler's and CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 1 month of hire)
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills; able to work independently
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently
  • Basic computer and email proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Host daily meal service at the assigned site, ensuring a welcoming experience for participants.
  • Monitor food temperatures and handling to meet food-safety and health department standards.
  • Plan and lead social, wellness, and recreational activities for site participants.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers supporting meal service and programming.
  • Screen and process participant eligibility, intake, and required program documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, meal counts, and volunteer hours; submit required reports on time.
  • Monitor site inventory and submit supply and activity requests as needed.
  • Serve as liaison with community partners, families, and internal departments; respond to participant concerns and escalate as appropriate.
