About The Position

The Community Center Attendant is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors. This role involves performing various janitorial and light maintenance tasks to ensure the facility is in good working order. The attendant will carry out routine cleaning of common areas, restrooms, and event spaces. They will assist with setting up for events and ensure equipment is stored properly after use. Regular inspections of the premises will be conducted to identify and report any needed repairs. The Community Center Attendant will play a key role in promoting the well-being of the community by ensuring a pleasant and hygienic environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least 1-2 years of janitorial or facility maintenance experience.
  • Attention to detail for cleanliness and safety.
  • Time management for efficient task completion.
  • Familiarity with janitorial tools and equipment.
  • Communication skills for interacting with staff.
  • Ability to identify basic maintenance needs.

Responsibilities

  • Empty all trash containers and replace liners.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors in common areas.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks and toilets.
  • Wipe down furniture, windows, and other surfaces.
  • Clean and disinfect high-touch areas like door handles.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of outdoor spaces, such as walkways.
  • Set up and take down tables and chairs for events.
  • Replenish cleaning supplies and restroom amenities.
  • Report any maintenance or repair issues to supervisors.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks, such as replacing light bulbs.
  • Dust surfaces, including shelves and fixtures, regularly.
  • Ensure floors are well-maintained through buffing or polishing.
  • Deep clean specific areas following large events or gatherings.
  • Assist with moving furniture or equipment as needed.
  • Follow safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals.
