About The Position

Community Canvassers and Team Leaders are being hired for a coordinated campaign to elect progressive candidates in several key districts, in partnership with the Natural Resource Defense Council. The campaign connects directly with voters through door-to-door outreach, supporting candidates who champion progressive values and encouraging people to vote for progressive leaders down the ticket. The position offers experience in leadership, communication and advocacy, community outreach and engagement, campaign work, public policy, and social enterprise. The role is based in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and is available full-time or part-time. Canvassers are paid $24 per hour, with the first three days of training paid at $21 per hour. Team Leaders are paid $26 per hour. Additional compensation may include overtime pay, driver and shift bonuses, referral bonuses, and an extra $2 per hour for fluent bilingual speakers.

Cultural competence and ability to respectfully engage with teammates and the community.
Must be eligible to work in the United States and present original, unexpired acceptable documents to complete I-9 verification.

Fluent bilingual speakers may earn an additional $2 per hour.

Responsibilities

Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner.
Deliver a compelling campaign message and collect complete survey answers from voters.
Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills.
Follow campaign safety protocols.
For Team Leaders: Manage a small group of canvassers in the field, checking in with them periodically throughout the day and debriefing with them at the end of the day.
For Team Leaders: Ensure each canvasser has the materials needed to be successful.
For Team Leaders: Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work.
