Community Canvasser - Protect Reproductive Rights
About The Position
Community Canvassers are needed to help turn out voters in Florida to get out the vote and win. Access to quality health care is a human right, and this role supports electing candidates in Florida who will protect reproductive rights and services. The work involves door-to-door voter contact to educate voters about pro-choice candidates in Fort Lauderdale. This role offers experience in Leadership, Communication & Advocacy, Community Outreach & Engagement, Campaign Work, Public Policy, and Social Enterprise. Positions run through November 3rd, with shifts from 12pm - 7:30pm on weekdays and weekends. Both part-time and full-time options are available.
Requirements
- Passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy
- Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
- Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
- Open to new challenges and are interested in building their campaign skills
- Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community
- Eligible to work in the US
- Upon hire, everyone will be required to present original, and unexpired documents from the Lists of Acceptable Documents to complete the I-9 form verification.
Nice To Haves
- Prior canvassing experience is preferred, but not required.
Responsibilities
- Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
- Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect complete survey answers from voters
- Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
- Follow the campaign's safety protocols
