About The Position

We are looking for an outgoing, motivated, people-focused professional to represent Hometown in the local business community. This is a relationship-driven field sales role designed for someone who enjoys meeting new people, building connections, and being active in the community every day. You’ll spend your time visiting local businesses, introducing Hometown’s employer healthcare solutions, and helping business owners find affordable healthcare options for their employees. This opportunity is ideal for someone earlier in their sales career who is ambitious, confident starting conversations, and excited to grow professionally. Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in outside B2B sales, field sales, or territory-based selling
  • Comfort with cold outreach — walking into businesses unannounced and starting conversations
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and reliable personal vehicle (mileage reimbursed at IRS rate)
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to build rapport quickly with small business owners
  • Self-motivated and able to manage your own schedule and priorities without daily supervision
  • Persistent and results-driven — able to hear 'no' many times and keep going

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience of selling products or services to businesses. The range of services may include products, employee benefits, payroll services, or recurring revenue products
  • Background at Verizon Business, Paychex, ADP, Heartland, AFLAC, Colonial Life, or a health insurance agency
  • Existing network of small business contacts in your Ohio territory
  • Experience with CRM software (HubSpot, Salesforce, or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Visit local businesses throughout your assigned territory including restaurants, salons, retail stores, construction companies, service providers, manufacturers, and other small businesses
  • Introduce Hometown’s Employer Healthcare Programs to business owners and decision-makers
  • Conduct consultative conversations focused on employee healthcare access and cost savings
  • Generate leads through daily in-person outreach, networking, referrals, and community engagement
  • Build and manage an active pipeline of prospective employer groups
  • Maintain consistent daily outreach and follow-up activity
  • Attend Chamber of Commerce events, networking functions, and local business events
  • Track sales activity and pipeline progress within CRM software
  • Partner with internal enrollment and operations teams to ensure a smooth onboarding experience
