About The Position

Individuals employed as Skokie Park District Community Basketball Scorekeepers / Site Supervisor are expected to generally supervise athletics leagues and programs, while observing officials' management of games and maintaining an accurate record of contests. These tasks are generally conducted in the absence of, and with the authority of, the Recreation Supervisor. Assist with set-up and breakdown of all necessary program equipment. Perform basic functions of all necessary program equipment, including, but not limited to, scoreboards, gymnasium or facility lighting, basketball hoops and volleyball nets. Maintain accurate scoring, and report scores during all contests to officials and participants. Provide accurate score reporting to recreation supervisor using provided paper work methods. Maintain all league materials, such a rosters, rule books and game balls. Observe necessary safety precautions and follow proper safety and emergency procedures. Observes Skokie Park District, facility and program policy, procedures and rules at all times. Report violations of program rules and regulations and eject offenders from programs when necessary. Supervises aides and/or volunteers when assigned. Responsible for officiating games for the Pre-K and Kindergarten basketball league. Help coaches set up and run practice session before each game. Other duties, for which the instructor is qualified, when assigned. OTHER DUTIES Performs other duties as assigned. Adheres to and actively enforces the safety responsibilities and safety procedures as outlined in the District's Safety Manual and overall risk management program. Incorporates the District's core values of commitment, service, integrity, openness, innovation and environmental stewardship in all work performed.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • High school diploma and/ or some college preferred
  • Has experience as a participant in a team sport, or demonstrates sufficient knowledge in the operation of an athletic competition required
  • Possess excellent customer service and communication skills
  • The proper candidate should be outgoing and able to converse with both adult and youth patrons in a friendly manner
  • Must be able to obtain and keep current CPR and AED certifications

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience in any capacity preferred
