About The Position

The Adult Basketball Scorekeeper is responsible for supervising the adult/youth basketball programs for the Vernon Hills Park District. Scorekeepers are responsible for score and time operations.

Requirements

Must have a thorough knowledge of basketball and able to complete scorebooks during games while working as a team player.
Scorekeepers must be at least 14 years old.
Must be able to deal with players before and after games.

Responsibilities

Arrive a half-hour before the start of the first game.
Set up the scorers’ table with the electric scoreboard, scorebook, pencils, rules, game ball and first aid. Start the game on time.
Score all games using both scorebook and scoreboard.
Wear Vernon Hills Park District staff shirt or approved official apparel at all times while working for the Park District.
Contact Athletic Supervisor immediately with any problems.
Complete all required paperwork (score reports, incident/injury reports, etc.).
Ensure cleanliness of gym before leaving.
Accident reports must be turned in the night they occur. Any major accidents need to be reported to the Athletic Supervisor immediately.
Performs the job safely and in compliance with District policies, procedures, work and safety rules and the employee manual.
Perform other duties as assigned.
