About The Position

The Community Based Outing Instructor is responsible for transporting service recipients to and from various community activities, including outings, volunteer events, and employment services. This role ensures a safe and positive environment for all individuals supported, including dispensing medication as needed and modeling professional conduct. The instructor will collaborate on scheduling outings, complete necessary paperwork, and contribute to reviews and meetings related to service recipient support. A key aspect of the role is maintaining a person-centered environment, using People First language, and ensuring all communications reflect the agency professionally. Staff are crucial in helping individuals learn and improve skills for independent living, respecting their preferences, dignity, and privacy.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED certificate
  • Driver's license with an acceptable record
  • Must be able to pass a background and drug test

Responsibilities

  • Transport service recipients to and from community based outings
  • Transport service recipients to and from volunteer outings
  • Transport service recipients to and from employment services
  • Ensure a safe and pleasant work environment at all times
  • Dispense daily medication as needed
  • Model and promote a positive and professional environment
  • Attend in-service training sessions, meetings, and out of town activities as required
  • Adopt a proactive stance when handling all issues related to recipient support
  • Collaborate in scheduling creative, community driven, and age-appropriate outings
  • Complete all appropriate paperwork
  • Contribute to monthly reviews regarding CB outing information and details
  • Contribute to daily notes regarding CB outing information and details
  • Contribute to Pre-Planning, ISP and COS meetings as called for regarding CB outing information and details
  • Fill out Medical Administration Record (MAR) accurately, timely, and responsibly
  • Assist co-workers and supervisor with various administrative needs
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with caregivers, agency staff, people supported, co-workers, direct supports and management
  • Diligently engage in the use of Person Centered practices and People First language
  • Ensure all written reports, letters and any other form of communication represents ESTN in a professional manner
