About The Position

The Community-Based Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides person-centered instruction, support, and serves as a positive role model for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities participating in the Community Based Day Support (CBDS) program. The DSP supports participants in areas such as pre-vocational/job readiness, socialization, community integration, education, and personal wellness.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to teach and model vocational or life skills.
  • Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license.
  • Completion of all required trainings in accordance with state and agency guidelines upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years of experience working with adults with disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and uphold the dignity, rights, and personal liberties of individuals served.
  • Establish and maintain positive, supportive relationships with individuals in the program.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of individualized services, including independent living skills, community self-management, social-emotional development, and behavioral support.
  • Support individuals in expressing preferences and making choices based on person-centered assessments and service plans.
  • Develop goals and objectives using the Individual Service Plan (ISP) format and oversee the implementation of relevant activities.
  • Facilitate opportunities for meaningful community engagement and inclusion.
  • Provide physical support as needed, which may include assistance with personal care.
  • Ensure compliance with all agency policies and procedures, as well as regulations from funding sources.
  • Communicate regularly with management regarding planned activities, progress, and any emerging needs or concerns.
  • Maintain professional relationships with individuals, coworkers, supervisors, community members, and external partners.
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, required trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Serve as a mandated reporter to the Disabled Persons Protection Commission (DPPC) in cases of suspected abuse or neglect.
  • Performs additional duties, as assigned.
