About The Position

The Community Based Therapist provides clinical services to clients, including assessment, individual and family therapy, and psycho-educational groups. This role assists with the development and oversight of the mental health component for the agency, working across all programs and traveling to serve clients at multiple locations. The Therapist provides mental health services including assessment, crisis management, ongoing individual, family (in and out of the home) and group therapy for girls and their families in the Gwen’s Girls Program. Conducts psycho-educational groups for girls and their families. Assists the Clinical Director with the development of the Mental Health Component of the agency, ensuring compliance with state and federal rules and regulations, requirements from the Department of Public Welfare and other licensing agencies, and applicable accreditation standards. Assists with training and development opportunities for staff regarding relevant mental health issues/topics. Ensures the agency operates in clinically sound ways to promote the health and wellness of clients and families. Submits claims forms for all clients in therapy for third-party payments in a timely manner. Gathers all significant client information, maintains proper documentation and files, and handles all requests and communications with insurance companies/providers. Maintains clinical licensure with the state of Pennsylvania with ongoing continuing education and other credentialing requirements with insurance agencies as required. Provides clinical oversight to all programs, ensuring programs operate with best clinical practices and ensuring the overall safety and well-being of all clients. Maintains working relationships with colleges and universities to recruit interns, providing clinical supervision, evaluation, and scheduling of interns. Provides clinical oversight of referrals for therapy and oversees the initial evaluation process. Makes clinical recommendations to staff and clients for additional services as required. Works with members of the management team to assure successful communication and coordination between all programs. Incorporates Sanctuary tools and practices into everyday interactions to create a trauma-informed environment and upholds the principles of Sanctuary to provide a therapeutic framework and culture. Actively participates in all required team meetings, trainings, and supervisory sessions. Meets regularly with supervisor, communicates openly needs, concerns, and ideas; utilizes feedback given in supervisory sessions. Performs in accordance with established system-wide competencies and receives satisfactory performance evaluations annually. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Licensed Mental Health or Social Work Professional, with at least 2 years clinical experience
• Must be able to develop rapport with clients and families, help girls set and achieve goals, and establish appropriate boundaries
• Must demonstrate an understanding of and respect for the cultural diversity of clients, volunteers and staff throughout the provision of services
• Licensed Mental Health Professional in the Commonwealth of PA (LCSW, LPC, etc)
• Must have a minimum of 2 years working with special needs/at-risk girls and families, with past experience in providing gender-specific, trauma-informed approaches to prevention/intervention services
• Knowledge of inequity issues that impact girls and young women of color
• Must have the ability to think globally, solve problems and have good decision-making skills, including critical thinking skills
• Ability to bill
• Experience working in crisis setting with individuals and families
• Ability to work flexible hours
• Program development, evaluation, solid organizational skills, and public speaking
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• PA Driver’s License
• Clearances Required: PA Act 33 (Child Abuse) / Act 34 (Criminal History) / Federal Criminal History Record (FBI Fingerprint) / National Sex Offender Registry
• Experience and confidence identifying and implementing evidence based practices
• Ability to work in and adapt the culture of a multi-cultural, community based organization, and commitment to maintain confidentiality
• Understanding of the Agency’s mission and culture and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients in all circumstances
