About The Position

The Community Banker II is responsible for maintaining a superior level of customer service within the Retail Banking Center. This role will assist in the control of bank assets and oversee operational functions of the Center. The position will coordinate on the training of staff members and provide motivation in successful cross-selling and telemarketing techniques. Levels of this position include Platform, which may work in new accounts and on the teller line, and Universal, which may work in new accounts, on the teller line, and provide overrides.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in responsible banking position, including both operations and new accounts.
  • Maintains a strong working knowledge of all aspects of both state and federal regulations as they relate to tasks being performed.
  • Must have ability to work well with customers and staff, both in person and by telephone.
  • Selling and motivational skills a must.
  • The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels within the organization, as well as with outside contacts.
  • Must have good aptitude for numbers and detail.
  • Keyboarding and computer skills are necessary, as well as strong organizational skills.
  • Must have strong knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as Outlook.
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license and carry current Valid CA driver’s license and current auto insurance meeting or exceeding CA DMV requirements is required.

Responsibilities

  • Meets or exceeds established goals and objectives set forth for this position, and will know, understand, and be knowledgeable with goals and expectations and be able to report results to management proficiently.
  • Maintains a high level of proficiency in all types of banking operations and new accounts, and is responsible for the motivation of staff members in the successful achievement of sales goals and greater customer service.
  • Provides assistance to the banking center whenever necessary by working on the teller line or in new accounts in order to accommodate customers.
  • Confidently possesses sufficient product knowledge and seeks opportunities to explain, promote, or sell/cross-sell benefits of bank services and products to customers, while providing quality customer service.
  • Actively generates new business relationships and participates in outside sales activities including: business calls, prospecting, community involvement, telemarketing, Bank-At-Work events, etc.
  • Must possess strong presentation skills and the ability to creatively develop new business relationships inside and outside of the branch. Requires flexibility to participate in offsite business development endeavors.
  • Monitors and tracks business documentation and agreements initiated at account opening to ensure applicable documentation is received, or account is closed, per the terms of the agreement.
  • Ensures that all security procedures within the banking center are adhered to by all staff members. These procedures include opening and closing procedures, cash drawer limits, dual control functions, elder abuse reporting, compliance with BSA regulations, conducting regular monthly audit and control procedures, testing the alarm system on a regular basis, and verify that maintenance on fire extinguisher has occurred and is current and documents all actions taken in connection with security compliance.
  • May assist in Branch Control Review (BCR) to ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to and the branch is in compliance with all necessary regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for the proper control of cash, and protection of confidential financial information, to include non-disclosure of password and teller number, protection of endorsement stamp, as well as control of teller keys/combos at all times.
  • Ensures that the banking center is maintained in a neat and safe condition, and motivates staff members in the maintenance of successful business development efforts.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies, forms, and equipment at the banking center at a satisfactory level; makes recommendations for additions and/or deletions to the Branch Service/Operations Manager and/or Community Banking Manager.
  • Ensures that all daily work transactions for teller transactions and new accounts are completed.
  • Performs integrity reviews to include verification of required information to establish new account relationships, including Business Account documentation.
  • Responsible for maintaining high level of job performance to meet and/or exceed the standard for this position in order to ensure achievement of the Department’s goals.
  • May be required to travel between branch or office locations to support operational or staffing needs.
  • Other duties/special projects as assigned.
  • Will assist in Branch Control Review (BCR) to ensure that all policies and procedures are adhered to and the branch is in compliance with all necessary regulatory requirements.
  • May assist the Branch Service/Operations Manager and/or the Community Banking Manager in the establishment of monthly staff meetings, including training other staff members in cross-selling bank products and “asking for the relationship.”
  • Assists in the maintenance of the necessary records and files for the banking operation; records and directs pick-up, opening, delivery, and depositing of mail for the Center, as necessary.
  • May be responsible for the compilation, auditing, and submission of daily work to the Accounting Department; such actions will meet all audit standards and be conducted in full compliance with all established operational procedures.
  • Will assist supervising the annual audits of collection files for dormant accounts, and oversee the safe deposit activity, including rental fees, maintenance of logs, and entry tickets.
  • May review previous operational audits and results of branch audits by Internal Audit Department to ensure all corrections have been completed; maintains appropriate follow-up action of all such deficiencies to avoid a re-occurrence.
  • May be scheduled as opening or closing supervisor for the branch.
  • May provide guidance on procedures and task execution to RBC staff members without supervisory responsibility.
  • Exercises override authority as directed by the Branch Service/Operations Manager and/or Community Banking Manager.
