About The Position

The Community Assistant - Co-Living plays a vital role in supporting resident services and operations at TBG's co-living houses serving UC Berkeley students. As the primary on-site representative for an assigned house, the Co-Living CA is responsible for the general upkeep, organization, and community culture of the property – and for ensuring the house is consistently tour-ready for the leasing team. This role is hands-on, highly visible, and focused on creating a positive living environment that drives renewals and reinforces TBG's reputation. This is an entry-level role ideal for individuals interested in gaining experience in property management, real estate, or student housing operations.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular walkthroughs of the assigned house to monitor cleanliness, organization, and overall condition of common areas.
Audit, organize, and replenish house supplies (cleaning products, paper goods, common-area essentials, etc.) and submit restock requests in a timely manner.
Perform light cleaning of common areas as needed to maintain TBG standards between professional cleanings (e.g., kitchens, lounges, hallways, entryways).
Identify maintenance issues proactively and submit work orders, escalating urgent items to the Resident Services Manager.
Ensure shared spaces are presentable and welcoming for both current residents and prospective tours.
Maintain a consistent, visible presence in the assigned house – making time to be on-site, interact with residents, and remain accessible.
Plan and execute regular resident events designed to foster connection, build community, and encourage residents to stay engaged with their housemates and with TBG.
Encourage participation in events and house culture to support resident satisfaction, renewals, and long-term reputation.
Act as an ambassador for the house and TBG, fostering relationships with UC Berkeley students and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
Serve as a primary point of contact for residents in the assigned house for day-to-day questions and concerns.
Address resident concerns directly when appropriate and escalate issues to the Resident Services Manager when necessary.
Mediate conflict between residents and help foster a respectful, cooperative living community – particularly important in shared co-living spaces.
Respond to and document behaviors that violate the lease agreement or community policies, escalating to the Resident Services Manager as appropriate.
Communicate house expectations, policies, and updates clearly and consistently to residents.
Support resident communications regarding leasing renewals, maintenance requests, and community updates.
Encourage the respect and appreciation of individual differences among residents.
Understand, communicate, and enforce community safety, emergency, and fire evacuation policies and procedures.
Provide emergency response and referral services and resources to residents as needed.
Immediately report any life safety hazard or maintenance concern encountered on the property to the appropriate team.
Be familiar with general maintenance policies and procedures and assist with after-hours maintenance emergencies as scheduled.
Ensure the assigned house is consistently tour-ready – clean, organized, and presentable for prospective residents at all times.
Coordinate with the full-time leasing team to support showings, address space-specific questions, and prepare common areas and available rooms for tours.
Provide elevated support to the leasing team during renewal leasing season, including renewal outreach, resident follow-up, and helping retain current residents.
Share house-specific knowledge (community culture, room features, resident dynamics) with the leasing team to support accurate marketing and conversion.
Participate fully in the preparation and administration of Turn, Move-In, and Move-Out, including extended hours and consecutive days as scheduled.
Assist with turnover activities, including but not limited to move-out and move-in inspections, cleaning, and facilities support.
Participate in the make-ready of rooms and common areas, including (but not limited to) removing trash, identifying and documenting damages, light cleaning, light painting, assembling or moving furniture, and small repairs such as lightbulb replacement and caulking, as directed.
Complete room inventories, key checks, and common area inventories as assigned.
Escort vendors throughout the community to assigned locations and remain with them until the project is finished or as otherwise directed.
Coordinate with vendors, facilities, and management to keep turnover on schedule.
Document property condition during turnover and report damages, deficiencies, or outstanding work items to the appropriate team.
Collaborate with the leasing and marketing team to promote the house via social media, on-campus outreach, and events.
Distribute marketing materials and engage with students during campus events, open houses, and tabling activities.
Assist with the creation of social media content – including content highlighting house events and community life – to drive engagement and leasing interest.
Assist with administrative duties, including answering phones/texts, managing emails, and organizing supplies.
Ensure any office or shared workspace used for resident services activities is clean, organized, and stocked with materials and forms.
Attend and constructively contribute to weekly staff meetings, special or emergency meetings, and required staff trainings.
Participate in the recruitment, selection, and training of new staff members as requested by management.
Distribute materials and messages from or approved by management in a timely manner.
Report to work in appropriate attire as outlined by TBG standards.
Other duties as assigned by manager.

Place a high priority on availability for CA scheduling when considering other extracurricular opportunities.
