About The Position

This role is about connecting with people in the community, understanding what they care about, and helping them link their passions to the future of their home. The job involves building relationships with residents, their families, neighbors, and local business owners. A key aspect is inviting people to contribute financially, with gifts typically ranging from $500 to $10,000, and also encouraging legacy gifts. Prompt and personal acknowledgment of donations and clear communication about the impact of their generosity are essential. The role also includes hosting events and maintaining accurate records to ensure continuity of relationships. A strong emphasis is placed on protecting the individuals served, with established guidelines for fundraising practices.

Requirements

  • Two to three years of fundraising experience, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience carrying a portfolio of relationships.
  • Experience directly asking people for a significant commitment.
  • Accountability for outcomes.
  • Curiosity about people.
  • Follow-through when not being supervised.
  • Ability to discuss money without pressure and without apology.
  • Second career candidates are welcome.

Responsibilities

  • Spend most of your week interacting with people: residents, their adult children, neighbors, local business owners, and friends of the community.
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of 30 to 50 individuals from a pool of 300 to 600 people at your campus, with a personalized plan for each.
  • Invite people to give, clearly and without pressure, with gifts generally ranging from $500 to $10,000, and potentially including legacy gifts.
  • Thank donors quickly and personally, ensuring they understand the impact of their generosity.
  • Host gatherings, tours, and events for people to experience the mission firsthand.
  • Maintain good records to ensure relationship continuity within the organization.
  • Adhere to established guidelines for fundraising practices to protect the people served.
