About The Position

Astrotech Space Operations is looking to hire a full-time Communications Technician at our Titusville, Florida location. This IT position in aerospace earns a competitive wage. Our state-of-the-art payload processing facilities are ideally located to support launches from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and Kennedy Space Center in Florida, as well as the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. We provide processing areas for a wide range of spacecraft including complex communications, earth observations, and deep-space satellites. In addition, our services encompass hardware integration and testing, fueling, and satellite encapsulation before transport to the pad. This position is critical to our mission support services. Requirements

  • Must understand basic knowledge and concepts of TCP/IP network switching, routing, Voice over IP Telephone Systems, Copper CAT5 Ethernet Cabling/Patching, and multifunction printers and copiers.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in the Communications, Networking, or IT field.
  • Must be willing and able to obtain a TS level security clearance to retain employment.
  • Must be a United States citizen.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional knowledge of Fiber Optic Systems/Patching, IP Camera Systems, Wireless Networking (Wi-Fi), CCTV Video Distribution, GPS Timing Systems, and Radio Frequency Transmission Theory is highly desired, but not required.
  • Associate's degree in Communications or related technical discipline, completion of a specialized course of study from a related vocational trade school, or industry-specific certification is preferred.
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Performing hands-on programming, set-up, maintenance, and upgrade of network and communications systems in support of mission requirements.
  • Installation, testing, and troubleshooting of mission specific hardware, voice communications, computer systems, telephones, televisions, CCTV cameras, and Access Control Systems, as well as fiber optic maintenance and cabling.
  • Primary focus on switches, routers, firewalls, and other hardware appliances.
