About The Position

BLN24 is seeking a Communications Specialist to support strategic communications, public affairs, and stakeholder engagement efforts for a federal healthcare organization. This position supports communications initiatives that strengthen organizational awareness, promote mission objectives, and engage diverse internal and external audiences across geographically dispersed locations. The Communications Specialist will develop written and digital communications, coordinate media and stakeholder outreach, assist with social media management, support executive communications, and create multimedia content that advances organizational priorities. The ideal candidate is a creative communicator with strong writing skills, experience managing multiple projects, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in public affairs, communications, or strategic communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency using digital communication platforms and tools.
  • Strong creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms, content management, and engagement best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD), Defense Health Agency (DHA), Military Health System (MHS), or other federal healthcare organizations.
  • Familiarity with military healthcare systems or military public affairs.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
  • Experience supporting executive communications, internal communications, or strategic outreach initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop communication products including articles, newsletters, talking points, press materials, website content, and executive messaging.
  • Support communication strategies that align with organizational goals and stakeholder priorities.
  • Ensure messaging is clear, accurate, and tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Assist with media relations and public affairs activities.
  • Coordinate communication efforts across internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with leadership, staff, and community partners.
  • Manage and update digital communication channels, including websites, email communications, and social media platforms.
  • Monitor engagement metrics and recommend improvements to communication strategies.
  • Stay current with emerging communication technologies and social media trends.
  • Assist in the planning and production of visual communications, including photography, videography, graphics, and multimedia content.
  • Edit digital media using industry-standard software as needed.
  • Support event coverage and organizational storytelling initiatives.
  • Manage multiple communication projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of communication products.
  • Support special projects and organizational initiatives as assigned.
