About The Position

The Communications Specialist is responsible for coordinating integrated communication and marketing strategies for HFA programmatic areas and creating, editing, managing, and deploying digital, website, email, social media, video, and print content. Success in this role requires strong writing and editing skills, attention to detail, comfort with digital communications tools and analytics, and the ability to collaborate across teams while maintaining HFA’s brand voice and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Highly skilled in proactively researching, creating, writing, and editing relevant content with minimal supervision.
  • Strong creative content creation, copywriting, proofreading, and storytelling skills across digital, e-mail, website, social media, video, and print communications.
  • 3+ years of experience working with an e-mail marketing, CRM, or digital communications platform; specific platform experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience coordinating or creating social media, blog, video, e-mail, and/or campaign content.
  • Analytical mindset and ability to review performance metrics, KPIs, and marketing data to inform recommendations and action plans.
  • 3+ years of proven successful experience in communications, marketing, content creation, public relations, nonprofit communications, or a related field.
  • Excellent oral, written, and social media communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and office administration skills.
  • Collaborative, service-oriented approach and strong team player mentality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient in applicable systems and software.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic graphic design experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools preferred.
  • Experience with the bleeding disorders community is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate integrated communication and marketing strategies for multiple programmatic areas in partnership with internal staff, contractors, and communications leadership.
  • Create, edit, manage, and deploy digital, website, email, social media, and print content, including news stories, testimonials, press releases, blogs, newsletters, email campaigns, and other organizational communications.
  • Develop relevant and engaging content for HFA audiences and design, build, and distribute email campaigns using HFA’s email marketing platform.
  • Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to create and coordinate integrated content across digital channels, ensuring consistency in message, timing, tone, and brand voice.
  • Support national and local brand awareness for HFA’s programs and services through website content, blogs, video, email marketing, social media, and print communications.
  • Support video and storytelling efforts, including drafting scripts, coordinating voiceover or video content, identifying and coordinating community members for stories or videos, and supporting short-form digital content development.
  • Work with the Director of Communications to write, edit, and contribute articles for magazines, newsletters, blogs, and other publications as requested.
  • Track, analyze, and present data, analytics, KPIs, and other relevant performance metrics for digital platforms, print communications, campaigns, and other communications initiatives.
  • Maintain consistent brand voice, messaging, and visual presentation across communications and branded materials in accordance with HFA Branding Guidelines.
  • Support communications and promotional needs for events, including developing event-related content, coordinating promotional materials, attending events as needed, and participating in special projects.
  • Create and update basic branded materials and perform minor graphic design work using approved templates and design tools.
