About The Position

This role serves as a critical support function for communications within the WWF Plastic & Material Science team, part of the Private Sector Engagement (PSE) department. The focus is on corporate and policy action to achieve the goal of 'No Plastic in Nature'. The specialist will implement external communications for one-on-one corporate partnerships, advocacy campaigns, and global implementation initiatives. This position requires close collaboration with internal and external partners, including availability for synchronized work, real-time engagement, and in-person support for meetings, events, and communications activities. As part of the PSE communications team, the role contributes to the broader communications strategy aimed at engaging WWF’s major corporate partners to inspire business audiences to embrace corporate leadership in conservation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of professional experience; or 2+ years with an advanced degree and relevant work experience in a communications agency or in-house external communications position.
  • Strong organizational and communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent ability to build internal and external relationships.
  • Experience working with external partners.
  • Proficient in graphic design.
  • Strong project management skills with proven ability to work as part of a high-level, multi-dimensional, international team.
  • Comfortable interacting with corporate personnel at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Ability to travel both nationally and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Execute communication workplans to position WWF as a leader in plastics issues, reaching audiences including business, policy (global, federal, state), the development community, and WWF members and supporters, in collaboration with the Director of Communications.
  • Work with PSE, media and external affairs staff, and Plastic and Material Science workstream leads to support timely and coordinated communications, ensuring accurate and consistent campaigns.
  • Finalize communications materials with media and external affairs staff and ensure legal approval.
  • Provide communications support for WWF’s corporate partners and global implementation partners to develop and implement communications plans related to plastic pollution.
  • Collaborate with and engage partners in real-time to coordinate communications activities, address time-sensitive needs, and support effective implementation.
  • Maintain and update WWF’s Plastics Initiative webpages with accurate, timely, and relevant content.
  • Support the development of materials and provide in-person communications support for speaking engagements, including pitch decks, case studies, and presentations.
  • Provide input into social media strategy, with a focus on LinkedIn, and create social media content (posts, video, graphics).
  • Contribute to content development strategy and develop blog posts, web stories, conference pitches, and stakeholder letters.
  • Provide project management support for asset development with third-party vendors, coordinating and providing in-person support for communications activities and deliverables as needed.
  • Collaborate with all WWF goal team communicators and the Marketing and Communications division to ensure alignment with plastics messaging, objectives, and WWF corporate engagement communications principles.
  • Support the broader PSE team by developing the monthly internal newsletter for WWF’s Corporate Engagement Community of Practice, a weekly news round-up newsletter, and corporate partner communications reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
