About The Position

The Communications Operator covers the switchboard on three different 8 hour shifts (AM, PM and NOC), covering the switchboard 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This position facilitates the communication of emergency situations with an overhead page, radio communication or electronic page. The Communication Operator is also the hospital’s first contact with the community and must provide accurate, courteous and prompt responses.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of and compliance with Marshall Medical Center’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
  • Ability to master the use of the PBX switchboard.
  • Ability to juggle several callers at once and respond to calls accurately, quickly and politely.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time with repetitious functions.
  • Basic computer skills including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities
