About The Position

Reporting to the Director, Communications, in the Office of Communications and Institutional Relations (CIR), the Communications Advisor, supports AES in developing and implementing communication initiatives aligned with its communications strategy and the University’s institutional priorities. The incumbent is located at Macdonald Campus and works closely with the AES Manager, Communications (with a reporting line to this manager), and collaborates with faculty leadership, professors, and administrative units to advance the Faculty’s education, research and engagement mission across a range of platforms, content types and audiences.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Science or a related field; and two to four years of experience in communications.
English and French (spoken and written).
Superior communications, writing, editing and proofreading skills.
Demonstrated skill in conducting interviews.
Recognized expertise in using social media platforms.
Proven ability to translate science to language understood by the layperson.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team
Authorized to work in Canada
Willing to work in the province of Quebec at the campus where the position is based / located.
English communication both verbally and in writing at a level # 4 on a scale of 0-4.

Responsibilities

Contributes to the development, implementation, and delivery of communications and social media activities for the Faculty of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences.
Ensures alignment with Faculty objectives and messaging across print and digital channels, including supporting the identification of target audiences, development of key messages, and selection of appropriate communication channels to advance priorities such as student recruitment and engagement, awareness of faculty initiatives, and stakeholder efforts.
Provides communications support to the Dean’s Office, academic units, and administrative teams, under the direction of the Manager, Communications.
Collaborates with CIR’s Editorial and Internal Communications teams to support the consistent alignment of messaging across the University, contributes to content-sharing initiatives, and liaises with CIR units to support coordinated activities and ensure adherence to institutional standards.
Develops and adapts content in support of project-specific communications plans, ensuring consistency with institutional priorities, branding, and messaging.
Writes, edits and reviews communications content for a range of products and channels, providing editorial expertise and quality control to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and alignment with institutional standards. Products may include newsletters, blogs, websites, social media, presentations, and promotional materials.
Provides editorial guidance to communications staff across the Faculty to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with faculty messaging and institutional standards.
Supports communications projects from concept to production in collaboration with internal teams and external service providers, as required.
Supports communications and logistical needs for Faculty events, committees, and initiatives.
Contributes to special projects and other related duties, as assigned.
