About The Position

The Communications & Marketing Coordinator executes day-to-day communications and marketing activities under the direction of the Director of Communications & Marketing. The coordinator develops written, visual, digital, and print content; maintains social media channels; supports website and email communications; documents agency programs and events through photography and video; and coordinates promotional materials that increase awareness of Catholic Charities' mission, services, and impact. The role works across departments to ensure content is accurate, timely, accessible, and consistent with agency brand standards. The business and social environment we operate in has changed. Requirements

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, journalism, media studies, graphic design, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least two years of experience producing communications or marketing content in a professional, nonprofit, internship, freelance, or academic setting is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate mission, program information, and client impact into clear, respectful, audience-appropriate content; nonprofit or mission-driven communications experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and content best practices.
  • A portfolio or work samples demonstrating writing, social media content, graphic design, photography, or video production must be submitted as part of the application process.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Cultural sensitivity and ability to communicate respectfully with diverse populations.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to learn new communications technologies and follow established workflows for content review, approval, publishing, and archiving.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with graphic design tools such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms (preferred).
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
  • Proficiency with website content management systems, email marketing platforms, social media scheduling and analytics tools, and shared digital asset management systems is preferred.
  • CPR or First Aid certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Communications & Marketing in developing and executing communications and marketing initiatives.
  • Interview program staff, clients, volunteers, and partners, as appropriate, and develop accurate, compelling stories that illustrate client experiences, program outcomes, services, and agency impact for use across approved communications channels.
  • Support the creation of written content for newsletters, website updates, social media posts, flyers, and internal communications.
  • Maintain timely and accurate website content.
  • Support email communications, including newsletters, campaign messages, event promotions, and program updates.
  • Coordinate content approvals, test links and formatting, and review published materials for accuracy, accessibility, and brand consistency.
  • Manage the agency's day-to-day social media publishing calendar by drafting, routing for approval, scheduling, and publishing content; monitoring comments and messages; escalating sensitive or service-related inquiries; and maintaining a consistent, timely presence across approved platforms.
  • Help create engaging digital content such as graphics, short videos, reels, and stories for social media and online campaigns.
  • Track and report key performance indicators for social media, website, email, and campaign activity; identify engagement trends; and recommend practical adjustments to content, timing, audience targeting, and channel strategy.
  • Assist with planning and executing photo shoots and video recordings at agency programs, events, and locations.
  • Capture high-quality photos and videos that align with brand standards and storytelling goals.
  • Assist with basic video editing and production for promotional, educational, and storytelling purposes.
  • Assist in designing flyers, posters, digital graphics, presentations, and other marketing materials.
  • Ensure all materials adhere to agency branding and visual guidelines.
  • Support promotional efforts for agency campaigns, events, and initiatives through print and digital assets.
  • Maintain media contact lists.
  • Assist with drafting press releases, media advisories, talking points, and organizational background materials.
  • Monitor news coverage and coordinate approved media inquiries and interview logistics with the Director of Communications & Marketing.
  • Obtain and document appropriate consent before capturing or publishing client stories, photographs, or video; protect confidential and identifying information; and follow agency policies for dignified, trauma-informed, and mission-aligned storytelling.
  • Coordinate with program staff to identify communications needs and opportunities for storytelling and promotion.
  • Assist with maintaining organized digital libraries of photos, videos, and content.
  • Maintain communications calendars, project files, production schedules, and approval records; coordinate deadlines with program staff, vendors, and internal reviewers; and provide administrative support for department purchasing, printing, event promotion, and other communications activities as assigned.
