About The Position

The Communications Superintendent demonstrates competency in job planning and management, with a strong ability to meet deadlines and execute work safely. Attention to detail is critical to success in this job as is the ability to communicate, both up and down the chain of command. The job entails organization and focus on managing multiple projects on the production floor manufacturing modular products for communication infrastructure systems. It involves preparing daily, weekly, and monthly reports accurately. Other duties include coordinating manufacturing schedules to meet project demands. Forecasting includes providing look-ahead schedules and arranging the necessary workforce, tools, and space to meet production schedules. The Superintendent is responsible for all aspects of manufacturing including QC, production numbers, and coordinating integrated production with other production lines. This is a hands-on position, requiring a focus on results, and a willingness to solve problems that arise in production.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience with a bachelor's degree (i.e. Engineering Technology, Construction Management) and 5+ years of Installation experience in IT, Cable, Electrical, RF and/or Telecommunications fields. OR High school diploma with 10+ years of Installation experience in IT, Cable, Electrical, RF and/or Telecommunications fields.
  • Experience working on telecommunication and electronic security projects ranging from $50,000 to $5M.
  • Experience working with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, submittals.
  • Experience installing Information Transport Systems.
  • Experience using MS Office Suit, CPM Scheduling, Cost estimating, modeling, AutoCAD, and Bluebeam software.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawings on electrical and security projects.
  • Familiar with standard deliverables and work process on construction and integration projects.
  • Must be a problem owner/solver having strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively plan and organize one's own activities or the activities of others.
  • Able to work in a diverse environment, with personnel having a range of backgrounds.
  • Requires reliable attendance at project locations during working hours.
  • Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule that includes occasional nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Run day-to-day operations facilitating through a team of production foremen and up to 60 assemblers.
  • Responsible for site safety, to include overseeing daily safety meetings and performing job site safety inspections.
  • Determining labor requirements and assigning the appropriate personnel to the task.
  • Interpreting and explaining manufacturing drawings to production teams.
  • Interface with engineering team to ensure design efficiency.
  • Coordinate with the engineering team to discuss any potential manufacturing issues and identify areas of improvement.
  • Interface with internal customers.
  • Plan material for just in time deliveries to prevent unneeded loss of usable floor space.
  • Plan equipment and material needs to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Suggest process improvements and cost saving measures.
  • Assist production teams with installation work as needed to maintain project schedule and budget.
  • Ensure defined manufacturing controls are followed by production teams.
  • Provide Manufacturing Manager with weekly project status and schedule updates.
  • Utilize project tracking tools to track progress, document issues and conditions daily.
  • Build manufacturing schedules to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish production plans.
  • Understanding and managing production cost as it relates to the budget.
  • Responsible for continuous quality control to ensure compliance with manufacturing drawings.
  • Identify quality issues and develop a mitigation plans.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, design artifacts, and project specifications.
  • Validate manufacturing estimate post award for constructability, manpower requirements, material budgets and equipment requirements.
  • Confer with senior management and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and project issues.
  • Ensure employees get onboarded correctly and receive necessary training.
