About The Position

The Communications Manager will bring The Anthropic Institute’s research to the public, helping policymakers, researchers, journalists, and the broader public understand AI’s current effects and prepare for what may come. The role provides dedicated communications coverage for Economic Research—which studies AI’s effects on jobs, wages, and the broader economy—and Societal Impacts—which examines how Claude is used, including workplace impacts, personal guidance, Claude’s values, and frontier agent use. The manager will also support Special Projects and the Frontier Red Team. The position leads research tracking, publication strategy, launch planning, and reactive press across both portfolios. It works closely with research teams, the Deputy Communications Lead, and Anthropic’s communications, policy, and editorial teams, aligning messaging while maintaining the Institute’s distinct voice. The role includes planning and executing releases such as quarterly Anthropic Economic Index updates, labor market analyses, and the Economic Research Fund, and developing repeatable communications processes for a growing research portfolio. Anthropic is a public benefit corporation headquartered in San Francisco. The company describes its mission as creating reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial for users and society. The role has a location-based hybrid policy: staff are currently expected to be in an office at least 25% of the time, with some roles potentially requiring more. The stated minimum education is a bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience, in a field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience. Years of experience required correlate with internal job-level requirements.
