About The Position

Foster Angels is seeking a dynamic and experienced Communications Manager to join our team. This role will be responsible for leading our day-to-day communications efforts, including creating storytelling pieces, digital content, media relations, and marketing initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging that strengthens awareness and engagement with our mission. The Communications Manager will report to the Director of Partnerships & Communications and work collaboratively across the organization to amplify the voices of the children, youth, and families we serve.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of professional communications experience, preferably in nonprofit or social impact organizations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to craft compelling stories that resonate with diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, email marketing software, content management systems, and basic design tools (e.g., Canva).
  • Basic understanding of website management (experience with Squarespace is a plus).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with media relations and storytelling for advocacy preferred.
  • Understanding of the foster care system is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Execute comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that align with the FACT mission and strategic goals and elevate brand identity
  • Manage Foster Angels’ social media presence, including content creation and analytics tracking.
  • Collaborate with development and program staff to promote campaigns, fundraising initiatives, and events.
  • Implement communications strategies for fundraising campaigns, corporate sponsorships, and donor events (e.g., Shining Stars Luncheon, Back to School Drive, Toys for Teens etc.)
  • Create compelling content for email campaigns, newsletters, website, social media, and print materials.
  • Keep FACT website up-to-date with consistent messaging and for ongoing events.
  • Draft press releases, media alerts, and handle media inquiries; build and maintain relationships with local and regional media outlets.
  • Support storytelling efforts by collecting and sharing client stories, volunteer experiences, and impact narratives.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate and improve campaign effectiveness
  • Support programs, drives, and fundraising efforts as needed.
