About The Position

The Communications Manager leads communication initiatives, public relations, and marketing campaigns for the E. J. Ourso College of Business undergraduate degree programs and student success initiatives. This role requires exceptional writing and editing skills to produce a wide array of content, from press releases and promotional materials to social media content, digital communications, and website content. Creative thinking is essential for devising innovative strategies that resonate with stakeholders and wide audiences. The Manager elevates the college's programs and accomplishments through collaboration with internal teams, faculty, staff, and students. They employ strategic thinking and communication expertise to advance the college’s mission and reputation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Three or more years of professional work experience in marketing communications, social media management, digital content creation, advertising, project management, journalism, or a closely related area.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic, digital-first communications to promote undergraduate degree programs.
  • Create a variety of content, including student stories and profiles, press releases, social media content, promotional materials, and website copy.
  • Lead the planning, content development, production, editing, and distribution of the college’s weekly student newsletter, The Ourso Experience, with support from graduate assistants.
  • Partner with the Office of Business Student Success to support communications related to student success, engagement, and career readiness initiatives.
  • Work with OCME director to design and implement social media strategy to align with business goals, develop social content editorial calendar, monitor, and report on engagement analytics.
  • Develop communications and marketing materials for assigned units, including the Center for Internal Auditing & Cybersecurity Risk Management. This could include press releases, marketing collateral, mass emails, speeches, long-form editorial content, and social media content.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, communicate proactively with clients and team members, and track timelines and milestones to ensure timely completion.
  • Assist with content creation to support special initiatives as requested by the LSU Division of Marketing and Communications, the LSU Foundation, and other entities.
  • Performs other duties and assigned and assists with other special projects as assigned by the director.
