About The Position

Broadlawns Medical Center is offering a full-time, 12-week summer internship designed to provide hands-on experience in healthcare communications and event coordination. This internship runs from May through August (40 hours per week) and offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that support our mission: Together a Healthy Community. Interns will gain real-world experience across internal communications, digital content, and community engagement while working alongside a collaborative team dedicated to serving Polk County.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a college or university program; communications, marketing, public relations, event management, or a related field preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects
• Interest in healthcare, communications, events, or mission-driven work
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with social media platforms preferred

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of AP Style is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Assist with internal communications, including BMCnet, employee newsletters, and announcements
• Support social media and digital content planning
• Help coordinate external events, community partnerships, and sponsorship initiatives that support Broadlawns role as Polk County’s community safety-net hospital
• Support coordination with apparel and promotional vendors, including selecting branded items for events and internal use
• Contribute to communications projects from concept through implementation
• Draft and edit content for a variety of audiences and platforms
• Support event logistics, including planning, coordination, and on-site execution
• Collaborate with teams across the organization
• Assist with organizing projects, timelines, and communications materials
