About The Position

Eastern Area Agency on Aging is seeking an organized, collaborative, and detail-oriented Communications & Development Specialist to join our Communications & Development team. Working closely with the Communications & Development Director, you'll play a key role in coordinating fundraising initiatives, researching and writing grant proposals, creating marketing and communication materials, managing social media, and keeping projects moving from idea to completion. Your work will help secure critical funding, strengthen community partnerships, and support EAAA's mission across eastern Maine. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys writing, project coordination, marketing, and fundraising while making a meaningful impact for older adults, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, English, Business, Social Services, or a related field
  • Two to three years of experience in communications, marketing, fundraising, public relations, or nonprofit development
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with social media platforms, marketing software, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Graphic design or publication layout experience is a plus
  • A creative, collaborative, and self-motivated approach to work

Responsibilities

  • Create engaging content for social media, newsletters, press releases, and other agency communications
  • Design and maintain marketing materials, brochures, flyers, and website content
  • Research, write, and coordinate grant proposals and funding applications
  • Support fundraising campaigns, donor communications, and special events
  • Manage donor records, acknowledgments, and grant reporting
  • Coordinate multiple projects and communication deadlines across the department
  • Build relationships with community partners, media contacts, and funders
  • Collaborate with staff to promote EAAA programs, services, and community impact
