About The Position

The College of Education seeks a creative, curious, and digitally savvy social media professional to tell stories about its community, including student successes, research, alumni achievements, and campus events. The role leads strategy, content development, audience growth, analytics, governance, and accessibility for the college’s social media presence. It turns research, student experiences, alumni achievements, faculty expertise, and college priorities into engaging, platform-specific content, with an emphasis on video, visual storytelling, and audience engagement. Content supports recruitment, engagement, reputation, and community-building among prospective and current students, alumni, donors, and other audiences. The position is a college-wide resource for social media governance, accessibility, account management, and digital engagement practices. It reports to the Senior Director of Communications for the MSU College of Education and collaborates with people and teams across the college. The selected candidate joins a collaborative Communications team and may have opportunities to support web content, email, print and digital publications, podcasts, video projects, promotional materials, and other strategic communications. This hybrid, remote-friendly position requires at least two days each week of on-campus, in-person work; additional campus time may be needed for events or business needs. Most work takes place during standard business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., though occasional evening or weekend work may be required. The position’s communications contribute to how MSU and the college are represented to students, alumni, donors, peer institutions, and the public, so thoughtful, accurate, and engaging content is important to building connection and trust.
