About The Position

The College of Arts & Media (CAM) at the University of Colorado Denver is seeking a Communications Coordinator to join its marketing team. CAM encompasses three departments on campus- Film & Television, Music & Entertainment Industry Studies, and Visual Arts, and manages the CU Denver Galleries: the CU Denver Experience Gallery and the Emmanuel Gallery. This position will contribute stories about our vibrant community to the CAM Press Room, write email and print collateral advertising copy for current and prospective students, and assist in marketing college events. The Communications Coordinator will also play an integral role in crafting CAM’s social media presence and creating an integrated content calendar.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, or related liberal arts field from an accredited institution
  • One (1) year of professional experience in a related field (journalism, copywriting, content writing, communications roles)
  • A combination of education and related professional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience with marketing and/or social media content generation.
  • Journalism experience.
  • Experience with Drupal.
  • Strong knowledge of grammar, editing, and AP style guidelines; knowledge of the Denver arts and entertainment scene.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills; detail oriented; strong collaboration skills.
  • Ability to multi-task between multiple projects and deadlines; ability to adhere to brand standards while creating creative and high-quality deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute stories regularly to the CAM Press Room.
  • Support enrollment efforts by drafting marketing copy for digital and print materials (i.e. emails, brochures, etc.).
  • Proactively work with departments and subject matter experts to generate content that is compelling, accurate and consistent with the university’s messaging and brand standards.
  • Help craft CAM’s social media strategy and voice.
  • Maintain social media calendars.
  • Stay up to date on current trends, best practices, and new technology.
  • Manage and update existing content on the college’s website, including department and program pages.
  • Create new webpages as needed, in collaboration with the marketing and communications program director.
  • Regularly review and audit and make updates as needed.
  • Provide communications support for college events, student recruitment efforts, outreach activities, and special projects.
  • Support college branding and promotional initiatives by implementing marketing plans, maintaining brand consistency, and collaborating with internal and external partners.
  • Support documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
