About The Position

We’re looking for a Community Communications Coordinator to join our team at Mariposa, a quintessential New Mexico community just north of Albuquerque, surrounded by more than 2,000 acres of preserved and protected lands and offering a balance of wide-open spaces and connected living. In this role, you’ll help bring the Mariposa experience to life through thoughtful resident communications, digital content, outreach, and community programming. You’ll create clear, engaging messaging, help keep residents informed and connected, and support initiatives that bring residents, neighbors, nonprofits, and community partners together. This is an opportunity to combine strong writing, creativity, organization, and technology skills in a role where your work directly shapes how residents experience and connect with their community. Requirements

  • 1–3 years of relevant professional experience in communications, administrative support, operations, customer service, project coordination, hospitality, community or property management, or another field demonstrating transferable skills.
  • Experience with web-based communication platforms such as WordPress and Mailchimp.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Strong organization and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Tech-savvy, detail-oriented, and comfortable learning new platforms and systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with residents, stakeholders, vendors, volunteers, committees, and internal teams.
  • Ability to work onsite at Mariposa in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
  • Ability to consistently work Monday–Friday, 9:30 AM–6:00 PM, with evenings and weekends as needed for community meetings, events, and programming.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and ability to travel locally as business needs require.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Public Administration, Community Association Management, Recreation, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create polished, resident-focused content.
  • Comfort working with creative and digital tools; experience with Adobe Creative Suite is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communications and resident outreach initiatives that support Mariposa’s brand, values, and community experience.
  • Draft clear, engaging, resident-focused messaging across a variety of communication channels.
  • Produce eblasts and other timely communications covering community operations, events, programs, and engagement opportunities.
  • Create content that is informative, approachable, creative, and easy for residents to understand.
  • Help communicate Mariposa’s values, vision, and community initiatives in a way that builds connection and pride among residents.
  • Help manage and execute digital communications, including website updates, page builds, eblasts, and event registration platforms.
  • Maintain resident-facing website content and help ensure the online experience is user-friendly, relevant, and up to date.
  • Organize and report communications and engagement data using platforms such as WordPress, Mailchimp, and Google Analytics.
  • Support the ongoing development of digital content that makes important community information easy to access and understand.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Community Life team to support community events, traditions, and signature experiences.
  • Contribute to programming that may include celebrations, social activities, community service, resident clubs, lifelong learning, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Participate in committee and event-planning meetings and help turn plans into coordinated, well-executed resident experiences.
  • Use resident feedback, surveys, and engagement data to help shape programming around community needs and interests.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, residents, stakeholders, vendors, volunteers, committees, and community partners.
  • Balance multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, organization, and strong attention to detail.
  • Provide communications and technical support to the broader community team as needed.
  • Bring initiative, creativity, sound judgment, and a resident-first approach to day-to-day work.
  • Contribute as an engaged team member who is comfortable solving problems, sharing ideas, and adapting to changing priorities.
