About The Position

The Communications Assistant provides support to the Communications team in developing and distributing email newsletters, content development, including writing blogs and engaging social media content, as well as administrative tasks. This is a seasonal role to support the team for six months, during the busy summer season, approximately April through September.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years’ work experience with a minimum of 1 year of experience in email marketing, social media, digital communications, content development, writing and/or a related area.
  • Experience building and deploying email newsletters through an email marketing automation platform
  • Experience updating a website using a Content Management System (Umbraco a plus)
  • Experience using social media platforms and creating content for TikTok, Instagram and Facebook.
  • Knowledge of HTML coding and best practices for email client compatibility and deliverability
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop and design tools
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Proficiency in website and email content development
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Must have strong writing and editing skills
  • Must work well independently, as well as on a team
  • Must be able to multitask projects in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented atmosphere
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends, especially over the summer season; some local travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Build email newsletters using email marketing automation platforms, Crowd Connect and Iterable, route to appropriate departments, make edits, schedule to send, segment and maintain lists.
  • Assist in coordinating cross-departmental web and email initiatives and assist in updating email marketing calendar.
  • Assist in writing and editing articles, marketing and web copy as needed.
  • Assist in capturing social media content for Wolf Trap’s social channels.
  • Occasionally work with larger Communications, Marketing, and Creative teams to brainstorm, strategize, and develop web, email and social content.
  • Assist with photo archiving.
  • Assist with administrative tasks including event support, archiving content and other tasks as needed.
  • Assist with additional duties as assigned.
