About The Position

The Communications & Social Media Specialist supports the organization's internal and external communications by creating engaging content, managing digital communication channels, coordinating with third-party communications vendors, and analyzing social media performance. This position helps ensure consistent messaging, strengthens public engagement, and supports organizational goals through strategic communications initiatives.

Requirements

  • Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency - general major. Requires basic knowledge or training in a specialized or technical field or trade, such as social work, professional accounting, finance, business administration, and marketing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Two to five years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or social media management.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience managing social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube.
  • Experience using social media scheduling and analytics tools.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar graphic design software.
  • Experience with website content management systems (CMS).
  • Strong project management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and present recommendations to leadership.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and social media best practices.
  • Ability to interpret analytics and identify trends.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Customer service mindset and professionalism when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Valid Hawaii driver's license, a clear driver's abstract, and willingness to travel in personal vehicle on an as-needed basis throughout the island.
  • Subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
