As a Communications Advisor, you'll be an integral part of a high-performing, collaborative team that offers expert communication advice and support to various business units across WestJet. In this role, you'll work closely with teams to develop and execute communication strategies and tactics that ensure timely, transparent, and engaging messaging. Reporting to the Team Lead, Internal Communications, this role contributes to day-to-day communications priorities as well as supports company-wide initiatives. Experience with union communications, change management and understanding external communications and government relations are all assets in this role.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience in corporate communications, internal messaging, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on crafting clear, engaging, and strategic content across multiple channels.
  • Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, journalism, business, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working as an advisor to leaders
  • Excellent writing skills with a demonstrated ability to write quickly and succinctly, often within tight timelines
  • Knowledge of Canadian Press style
  • Strong relationship-building skills with experience coordinating with various stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with union communications, change management and understanding external communications and government relations are all assets in this role.
  • Experience with SharePoint and/or Viva Engage is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance on messaging and oversee internal communication plans that support broader business objectives.
  • Write, edit, and manage communication materials, ensuring timely distribution and coordination.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of internal communications, provide insights on trends, and advise stakeholders on best practices.
  • Implement communication strategies by developing, writing, and producing engaging communication materials that build trust.
  • Support content creation for a variety of communication channels.
